When Silence is Too Loud

Sometimes, our resistance to silence is not about silence at all. It’s about not wanting to face the noise that clutters our soul with worries, doubts, fears, disappointments, and all kinds of hurtful woes. It’s easier to blast the tv, mindlessly scroll social media, or even distract with busy good works.

A big part of the struggle is to make the decision to stop long enough to say…

Be still, my SOUL. Put your hope in God.

Hey, SOUL! Be quiet.

Acknowledge that God is God, and you are not.

Silence is the reward of accepting the Lord’s invitation to receive His help through surrender of all my cares into the hands of The One Who Cares.

I have certainly soothed and quieted my soul; Like a weaned child resting against his mother, My soul within me is like a weaned child.
— Psalm 131:2 NASB
casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.
— 1 Peter 5:7 NASB
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
— Philippians 4:6-7
