Jesus came to heal the broken hearted
There is hope for you
There is something powerful about having a safe place to share your heart
I provide pastoral counseling for individuals, groups, and seniors in areas of grief and loss, depression, faith crisis, and women’s issues. My approaches look like this.
Person Centered: I believe that connection is one of the primary vehicles of healing from life’s wounds. It’s not so much about the method as it is about Relationship. Some circles refer to this as The Ministry of Presence.
Narrative: Your story is important. I listen not just to what you say, but also to how you say it. Is it told through a lens of sadness or regret? Tragedy or triumph? We talk about it together. The wonderful news is that… This is not the end of your story! You get to keep writing. You get to keep living a story that is worth being told and needs to be heard.
Resilience: Another word might be bounce-back-ability. It’s your anchor in the storm; your lighthouse in the fog. It gets you back up on your feet when you’ve been knocked down over and over again. It helps you lift your head with tears falling off your face. It’s the holy attitude that announces to that which tried to destroy you, I am still here… in spite of you.
Strength-based: It helps to have an outside perspective when life has beaten you down. I liken this to having two mirrors. One is the funny mirror at the carnival that distorts your image to be incredibly short or wide or tall. If that’s the only mirror you look at, you’ll probably believe that’s the way you are. Together, we look for a mirror that is more accurate… One that honors your strengths and validates your weaknesses without shame.
